Linen Update

Hi all and thanks a bunch for all the suggestions on how to handle the “stain situation”. Thanks to all of you, I stiffened up my back-bone and called the store in question and got a very positive response immediately!

I offered to send the pictures, but they assured me that they did not need to see them. I also mentioned that I was sure that I could work around the stain and they said that it didn’t matter – I would get a new piece. First I was asked to mail the stained piece back but then, after just a couple of seconds afterthought on the other side of the line, I was told that the new piece would be in the mail today and to toss the stained piece on the trash (which I obviously won’t!).
Needless to say, I am relieved and really impressed with the service! I guess that I am a bit weary based on other, less successful, transactions with other companies, but this was a great experience! On the other hand, I have always gotten fantastic service from this store in the past, so I am not sure why I was so worried.

I also understood from some of your comments that you figured out which company I was talking about. “How can that possibly have happened?”, I thought to myself, “I know that I intentionally did leave the store’s name out of the post….”. I read and re-read my own post and was totally dumbfounded until I looked closer at the first photo! Aaaaargh! The receipt was clearly visible in the upper left hand corner… Great! In other words, observant readers know not only which store I was talking about, but also my spending habits (thank goodness that DH is not a regular reader), my full name, and likely the last 4 digits of my CC…. Sigh! I am about as graceful as an elephant sometimes, I tell you!

Later in the evening, L-bug and I were talking over the phone and we shared the “accidentally too much information on the net” stories. We had quite a laugh! One of my favorites is a photo that someone (a man, as it showed up) posted on eBay. The photo was showing a good size, beautiful dresser – the kind with a mirror on top. Apparently the photographer forgot that mirrors tend to show what’s in front of them. That was not the only thing he had forgotten; it also seems that the photo-shoot was a “clothing optional” event…. Pretty funny! The only saving grace was that the flash whitened out his face, so at least he was somewhat incognito…

Well, to get down to the point, I apologize for any drama I may have caused through my clumsiness and as a token of my regret (and food for thought), I am ending this post with an inspirational poster:

Have a great day and post carefully! ;-)

  5. Glad you got it sorted. I've always found being polite works wonders. I managed to get (and keep) three incorrect photo display thingies (those clear plastic ones that hang up on a wall?) because they kept on sending me 4x6 pockets not 7x5! I kept offering to send them back but they kept refusing!

  6. Glad it all worked out for you. And, some of us (like me) aren't as observant, but those that are learned that the store has great customer service. And, considering most if not all of your readers are cross stitchers, you need not worry too much. We are a great group of women.
